How can one rank a service based landing page ?

Is there anywhere someone can point me to be able to rank a painting service based business in a city ?

I have landing page I am running google ads, but its time to lower those ads and start ranking this site but all I know is write content, base that page on 1 keyword, but I know theres more to ranking.

Can anyone point me to a course a guide or anything of that nature please?

As others have said It will be difficult to rank local site without GMBs, but to answer your question
about your website specifically, onpage SEO is very important also the way you structure your banklinks.

a single page cannot have internal links. the point is to convert your site from single page (thin site) into a multi-pager. google search "<any service> <any city>". top results are not thin sites. they have several pages and subsequently, internal links. clone this layout to your project. after all, what better place to learn than from the person already ranked #1.

to collect email subs: sign up for mailchimp.com or whatever competitor of theirs you find. i don't vouch for them, they just come to mind right now. they will give you a code to embed on your site for the email opt-in form. a user submits the email, and you manage the list + newsletter from your mailchimp portal.

Yes ok today you not see often single one page landingpages fpr sign up, most are on a biger site.
Look at Tesla signup it's a subdomain auth.tesla.com and linked to their main bigger site (example)

Or johncrestani sign up, support.johncrestani.com who is linked, a part of his main site and has a good ranking, or otherwise, it has a good ranking when you type in google the name jogncrestani.

Yes subdomains today in some cases make senses and will not harm you as many SEO experts will tell you, but that's another topic.

When you only have a single page Website, it needs little bit more then regular SEO....
