Shopify Dropshipping or Amazon FBA?

Then go ahead and do it.

There is a reason why people haven't done it.

Not just a majority couldn't do it but an overwhelming majority won't be able to pull off anything close to $2.5 K.

Oh yeah, just the only thing he needs is to run Facebook ads successfully. The tiny thing :D

What the OP actually needs is to do everything by himself considering that he spends this entire budget on ads only:

  • Build out a decent site by himself - Since outsourcing with his budget makes this impossible.
  • Learn how to use Pixels and analytics that correlate with the future ad campaigns
  • Find winning products - He has only 1 shot with this budget.
  • Generate/design high-converting ads - Considering they have no skills whatsoever how much money will be buried here?
  • Have a vast understanding of the FB ad system and targeting
  • No proper A/B testing because of the lack of funds - This means his only strategy would be to hope that everything falls in perfect order.

I'll tell you what. You go and do this and then we can talk. From time to time I see these people popping up here and always claim unrealistic things that they can't replicate themselves. This is not a walk in the park and the OP's failure with this is more than likely because most people are failing with larger budgets than 2.5 K - I'll be waiting for that journey thread, good luck.
what do you mean? Are you saying nobody can see results with facebook ads starting with 2.5k?

- & of course I expect the OP to have the skills to make a decent converting site, its really not hard, especially with all the free themes they have out now.
- Learning how to create a facebook pixel and attach it to your site isn't hard either, anybody with no experence in ecommerce thats serious and done enouh due diligence can figure it out extremely fast on youtube. It's as simple as creating it and pasting the code on your site.
- Creating ads isn't hard either, But let's just say he doesn't do it himself. He can easily outsource and get good converting ads made for under $50 bucks.
- with 2.5k the OP can test multiple products all you need to spend is about 1-200 bucks per perdocut test to tell if its converting or not. so again I dont see how this is impossible. Just because you might can't doesn't mean other people can't.

Sure it's POSSIBLE.

But it's highly likely that he won't be able to replicate this before busting the funds.

He has no skills in creating any ads, that's for sure and there isn't anyone here who has been able to pull this off with this budget without knowing what they are doing, this says all.

I don't care what you say. If you claim things that have not been done here before then these are just words.

He will bust the little money he has and that will be the end of his journey.

@Daynex
Which do you know better about???

Amazon FBA needs big budget, with your budget may you can check Amazon KDP , it's a great business model and you can outsource the work. Search for a good course to study how to start first.
Do you think How much is the minimum?

I appreciate all the responses. Thank you everyone.

Do you think How much is the minimum?
Honestly I started off looking at FBA, my old co worker who has much more experience than I gave me two courses for working for him when he was going through some personal issues one of them is Amazon selling machine, and Private label masters which he highly recommended.
Then go ahead and do it.

Thanks for your detailed response, I appreciate the hard truth as I don't want to go into this just to waste money.

I decided to do some vast research and learn as much as I can while putting more money aside to get started. To be completely honest with you the reason I looked into this is because I have much more time to spend.

I recently was able to quit my job as my freelancing work from home is earning me much better income so I decided to do it full time and actually have been in the process of creating my own agency and have gained a few retainers already. I looked into this because as mentioned before this is brought up as something you can passively grow (which I see is now obviously not the case) so I wanted to test it out.

I have experience creating websites. My marketing skills which I attained under training/working for two big companies for the last couple of years are copywriting, content marketing and on-page SEO.

I do not have any experience in creating my own FB ads or ad design. I will begin doing my research/ learning there. I'm open to any suggestions as to where I can begin gaining solid knowledge on this.

Once again I really appreciate your response, as well as everyone else that took their time out to give their input. Thank you.

use Shopify drop ship with related manufacturer, do back-linking, being an influencer, spend about $100/ad campaign for testing, scale etc.

if you have the time including some effort, Shopify dropshipping yields more.

if you have an exit plan to spinoff

Internal circulation course? If it's on the internet, can I have the name? Thank you

Honestly you need a bigger budget regardless of which of these you want to start with.

You'll burn through 2.5 K quicker than you think.

You can't do ads nor SEO for this amount. You might have more luck doing influencer marketing with that budget.

OP might have more better luck placing bets on a Roulette.... :D

most definitely! Im here to help, if you choose shopify dropshipping, You can ask me any questions along your journy with ur website set up, conversion rates etc. and ill help the best way I can. Even if you spend the entire 2.5k and get No ROI (Which I highly doubt) the knowledge you will get from the spend will be worth it. I'll even tell you how I structure my testing campaigns. First if I were you I would start with at least 4 creatives, then create 1 campaign can be ABO or CBO whichever you prefer, inside the campaign have 7 interest each related to your product with $5 a day budget on each adset, so your spending about $35 bucks a day until you find ur winning creative and interest. Start ur ads at 12 am and let run for 1-2 days. look at ur creatives and see which one is performing the best and kill the others & also kill any adset that has a cpc of 1 or higher, from my experience the adsets that pop off for me have all been less than $1 cpc. each time you kill an adset create a new one with a different interest. Dont spend over $150 testing a product. If you do this right I can almost assure ull find ur winning product, offer etc. before you spend 2.5k

Start with dropshipping and spend that 2.5k on learning how to do ads.

At least if you fail you will not be stuck with a bunch of inventory.

FBA is way more competitive now and even a 25K budget might not get you anywhere if you pick the wrong niche.

Here's a thread of a guy who started with less, he had 2k in his account and made 500k+. Just wanted to post this here for not only you but anybody else.

LOL

Did you even read his journey or did you just try to add random links to support your narrative?

I guess you didn't since if you had, you'd know that this guy did influencer marketing as I suggested in the first post - That you said not to do :D

Once he collected the funds, he moved to Facebook ads.

Like I said, you post absolute nonsense. Go and open that journey thread now I'll be personally there to overlook your ad spend and other details for 2.5 K

Different business styles for everyone. You have ever growing Tiktok store, Shopify, Shopee, Lazada, Walmart, All those platforms, however everyone dresses differently, everyone's personality is different, everyone's business model is different, everyone speaks differently, everyone's experience and views are different. its hard to say which one is best or makes money.

My overall suggestion is:
1. You need to work hard, go deep in the trenches, it's much harder to make money now.

2. Look at as many different courses as possible that your most interested in ,such as dropshipping, Amazon FBA, etc. then decide what you think your most interested in and that keeps you motivated to wake up each day to work on your side hustle.

3. If you want fast results, look for services vetted in BHW that can speed up your business. Time is money, pay money to cover your time.

hello! i appreciate the tips you've been handing out.

when it comes to product research, do dropshippers continuously create new websites/brands for each new trend they find? trends seem to refresh every week or two on tik tok & seems like an overwehlming amount of work.

i'm looking into shopify dropshipping but not sure if i should go the long term- stick with 1 niche route, or hop to the next latest trend repeatedly. any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! No problem. If you don't want to keep creating 1 product stores for each product you test, what you can do is create a "niche general store. Basically, a general store that still has a branded niche feel, that way you can test multiple products on the same store without having to keep building everything from scratch. Trends are cool, but the more you test, the more you will realize that any product can be a winner as long as the numbers allow it to be sold and it solves a problem for the customer, It's more about finding a winning, high-converting funnel that you can easily plug any product into and sell. When I test products, I usually do so in my branded general store, and once they prove to be profitable, I build a new branded store around them. Building a new store for every product has its pros, though, it gives you experience, so your sites are going to keep looking better and better, so you can't lose either way. & Try not to stick with 1 niche, you want to really test around until you find something that works. Don't just blindly test and throw products at the wall.. pay attention to what's already working and let the data tell you what to test. I would not recommend trying to be the first to sell a product until you get more experience. Sell what's already working.

You can check in udemy for an updated course from someone that has already did that succesfully.
Wow they are having the course regarding dropshipping on the Udemy already? I would like to see any link to the course if you have already taken the course or have me redirected to it if you know the source.
@OP should increase budget to twice, considering the cost for digital marketing. Without marketing there is no way you can achieve higher ranks in drop shipping.

thanks for being extremely informative. can i bug you for a couple final questions?

1. i was wondering how you get by with longer shipping times w/ customer being happy? if shipping from china, i'd say customer would receive product in about 2 weeks...seems a little *too* long? or do you pay more for COGS for a US supplier?

2. for newer brands launching ads w/o much of a following on tik tok/fb/ig ads, how do you get customers to take you more seriously? how do you get them to trust a new brand?
