Do we have an alternative to Twitter?

Oh! Twitter is gonna implode. With their mass banning shi* etc. They locked my account and asked me to verify with an old number of mine I used to register PS, I don't even recall where that sim is. Not gonna even bother though!
The old Twitter was banning everyone for their opinions like a dictatorship. There was MUCH more turmoil on the old Twitter than the new Twitter, you just didn't notice because it didn't affect you personally.

You think the millions of people who use Twitter are going to leave because some marketing accounts, bot accounts and fake news accounts got suspended? Nobody cares about that except the people it happened to, which only affects a tiny percentage of the real people who use Twitter for its intended purpose.

Twitter isn't going anywhere. It's going to be as big as it ever was.

Why is Mastodon so difficult to use? Each channel has to register once as a member

Nothing very mainstream or well known. Let alone used by a decent amount of people. I know the "Hive" blockchain has two alternatives, D.Buzz and LeoFinance threads, both somewhat versions of twitter them self. but they stick to the Hive blockchain and people around that ecosystem.

You guys are really all out of the loop.

ICQ's going to replace Twitter

Mastodon is an alternative to Twitter that is open-source and gives you more control over what you view and the conversations you conduct.

There isn't really an alternative, but at this point I suspect ratboy to sell the platform and step back soon as his incompetence is on display with the Twitter fiasco and tanking all his other companies. In the past three months Tesla stock has halved in value and he can't keep selling his shares to fund Twitter. So when some big shot investors take over the reins and he steps down as twitter CEO things will likely return to normal.

What do you consider "normal"? Going back to suspending people's accounts for speaking their mind and helping the government silence any dissenting opinions?

The closet existing popular alternative to Twitter is Discord. Ofcourse, there may also be more existing alternatives to Twitter.
HOWEVER, once again, reiterate : the closet existing popular alternative to Twitter is Discord.
Ofcourse, Discord is organized into servers and / but Twitter has a flat structure.
Discord will not attract people that want a pretty GUI like Twitter and not having the IRC type interface. They will not go.

Yes I love silencing people who speak their mind, it's the best, especially if those people are conservatives because you know, I'm an evil antifa! Lmao

Lol, Twitter never had much a track record of suspending people for speaking their mind when not breaking the TOS (discrimination and / or inciting violence).

Unless you run like an Infowars competitor you're gonna be fine without ratboy. Who by the way just put up a poll to step down.

Mastodon is quite great, however as with all these types of service the problem is there is almost no user. Twitter is here to stay
