Pushing for 1st page

I have some pages that are ranking, but they are on 2nd, 3rd page. I try to generate backlinks and optimize the pages. But, it looks like they are stuck and not moving up any further.

Do you guys have any suggestions ?

Do competitor analysis.

Check if their's content is better than yours. Check which backlinks they got for the specific page ranking for 1# for your particular keyword.

Maybe you push them back, not forward. I would use a few parasites (Medium,Quora) and create some natural, relevant links to them.

He's looking to rank higher not to get some crap traffic. No follows don't help with ranking.
