I would disable adsense for this..I don't use adsense,so I would say its the safest to disable adsense.

This is my first post on this site. I have only read the first couple of pages of this post and I have read some very questionable posts.
Here's my input - Ask yourself why you want to increase your Alexa rank using bogus traffic you are creating yourself. You are only fooling yourself. Are you doing it to generate a 'good rank' before selling the site? Nobody will buy it without first seeing quality analytics to back up the traffic rank which of course you wont have. Are you doing it to try and get a higher price to sell text links? The advertiser will cancel after the first month when they aren't getting any quality traffic from their link.
I have a site with an Alexa rank of 22k and I have another site which gets 5 times as much natural traffic and it has a rank of 500k. It's meaningless. I read one post with a rank of 28m. Install the alexa toolbar and load your page yourself once each day and you will jump millions, you are sitting behind a lot of dormant sites there.
My Advice - spend your time trying to find a way to get other people viewing your site. Even if you get 10 people visiting your site you have achieved more than you will with this method.

Just to follow up on my earlier (somewhat negative, but true) post about this subject, why not gather together a group of like-minded people and create a group. Write a script where everyone can submit their site & email and the script will email each user a random list of 20 (or however many you want) sites each day or a couple of times per week and each member needs to visit the list of sites they receive. You could use URL shortening and have 1 or 2 of the links pointing at your script to flag that the user is keeping their end of the deal, if not they are removed from the system. You could add a rule that everyone must have the alexa toolbar installed.
That would give you natural direct traffic and therefore boost your alexa naturally with visits that would be recorded in Analytics and best of all it would be Ad friendly.
The more people the better, I'd even write the script (or JV with another developer to share the workload) if there was enough interest.

Care to explain your results and how long ago you used it to gain those results? Was it the same strategy that the OP explained?

When you increase your alexa rank you have a better chance of being seen on the alexa site.Once you get to top 100,000,50,000,10,000 and so on you will see increased traffic.You wont start to see traffic from alexa until you get below about 150,000 maybe 200,000
