100mbps feel sufficient for many starting tasks. But from my experience most sellers that put that 100mbps limit generally have huge networking issues.
For example OVH VPS have been historically one of the biggiest s**t ever networking-wise. And guess what? They have a 100mbps limit.
I prefer a total bandwidth consumption limit than a link limit. I prefer to have 10Gbps network and 1Tb download than unlimited download and a 100Mbps bandwidth.
For cheap VPS, in EU, check Hetzner (20Tb limit) or Contabo, in USA check HostHatch or Cloudways. Plenty of cheap VPS that doesn't offer such limited 100Mbps bandwidth.
I disagree. OVH have one of biggest network. Be careful with 1Gbps, they can mention 1Gbps but is shared or guaranteed?
If they only mention 1Gbps that means that you can have 100Mbps, 200Mbps.. probably is shared, be careful with marketing.
I prefer 100Mbps guaranteed than 1Gbps Shared and speed around 70Mbps ~ 1Gbps.
100Mbps is enough also, OVH offers a good ddos protection, is not the best but guarantees that is not easy to takedown.
You can try SoYouStart their Anti-DDoS Pro and Anti-DDoS Game Filters.
Kimsufi and SoYouStart are cheap dedicated servers from OVH to students and people who doesn't want to spend many money.
Kimsufi doesn't have the best ddos protection like SoYouStart have.
OVH can handle with many requests and DDoS Attacks, the issue with OVH is they don't filter the traffic inside their network, if someone attacks from ovh server to other ovh server it probably goes down.S
Soon I think OVH will patch that.
