For automation yes. Choose what you learn based on what you want to do with it. That will save you many hours of fumbling around.

Also, the whole world of machine learning/AI is using python, probably because it initially was used by professors in universities who firstly were doing research on machine learning. The language is very similar to pseudocode that's why old professors in universities like it
So most of the resources and tutorials for machine learning are written in python.
