So I’ve recently found a way to get my vids back on shorts feed but they are only getting 1-2 views from it then it stops. I don’t think its about viewer retention since one of the vids even gave me a like and subscribe from just 2 views. So what could it be?

Upload good quality shorts and if still do not get views, change the niche.

What do you suggest ?
I only uploaf high quality shorts and I had this channel for some months now… I don’t really feel like the niche is the problem since i used to get around 10-15k views per video and I’m constantly getting around 2-3k views a day from youtube search
i would try tiktok but i find uploading on yt shorts easier
Any other ideas why I am getting only getting 1-2 views from shorts feed?
My average video retention is 135-156%

I think these aren't even real views. I spent a few hours making shorts videos and they all got 1 view and many of them got 1 like, and then I checked later and the view disappeared for many of them and now it showed 0 views. It's not possible in my opinion to get 1 real view + like on shorts and never get another view ever again like this.
You are right i found out this morning that the like and subscribe disappeared which is weird.

What I do is I delete the short and reupload it right after if it doesn't perform the first hour. This worked most of the time for me
I upload around 90-100 vids daily and none of them perform well in shorts feed

Just change your niche, look what works with people and go from there.

Tiktok has lots of traffic and tiktok also has some program to pay the creator.

I would strongly suggest you would go with what you really love, which is the 'key',
either way, it is mostly about the 'Hashtags' and the Quality of the content itself for it to 'succeed'.

Use trending songs. Start watching shorts and note down the songs that people are using repeatedly and reuse them.

I make hundreds to thousands of views from shorts feeds on a channel where I just post random clips of me gaming, so you're clearly doing something wrong. Have you considered that maybe you're shadowbanned?
Hashtags aren't that relevant anymore. Google tracks every user's watch history to figure out their taste in content, then they push your short to different people with different taste in content to see which one fits and which one interacts the most with the content. That's how the algorithm decides the niche of your content, so my advice is pick a niche, make shorts very short (10-30 seconds) to trick the algorithm into thinking people willingly watch a high percentage of your video, and of course as you said increase the quality.
