Show recently updated posts in google news?

I see some big publishers are able to show "recently updated" old posts in google news section. E.g, a post written in 2010 but recently edited in 2022 can still show as a news. But I cannot figure out how they do it.
My rss feeds only show posts according to published time. After updating a post, it cannot show up in RSS, hence not in google news.

I'm assuming they can show last modified posts in their RSS feeds?

How that happens is they change the date on the back end of their site. This was the case when I did it and currently doing it. Wordpress makes this easy; Joomla makes it far complicated than it needs to be. If its a PHP site you might need a script to mass change dates of original articles.

if you check the Html, the published date is still old, only the updated time is up-to-date.
So I wonder how they get it done.

Could be a plugin. I just copy the actual article, which makes it logged but an unpublished draft and change the date in quick edit. When I publish it it shows the original published date and the new date.
