[Journey] - Growing SFW subreddits

Hi!

This thread is for me to stay consistent in growing SFW subreddits.

There are fck tons of posts on growing NSFW subs but nobody never talks about growing and monetizing SFW subreddits.

Anyways..

I have 2 subs atm:

SUB 1 - over 10 years old (got it from redditrequest) that had like 240 subscribers. I have grown it to 675 atm.
SUB 2 - created by me 2 months ago. I have grown it to 2306 atm.

Monetization - I am not sure what is the best way to go about it atm but I am promoting in the automoderator sticky comment and in a pinned sticky post in the subreddit - I will later try perhaps making promo posts for CB products with another account.

I try growing with crossposting and commenting.

For this to be a successful journey thread I would need a goal - I always have trouble in life setting goals and that's why I never reach them also.

I have no idea how much money I would make or not make by growing these subs - I could need 10k active subs or maybe 70k.. no idea.

For starters.. it would be good to have goals that seem attainable.. so.. let's put a numerical growth as a target.. and later.. let's make the target bigger.

Target:
Grow SUB 1 to 10k subscribers
Grow SUB 2 to 10k subscribers.

I have no idea how long it will take but let's see.

I'm not growing THAT fast.. but you have to find very related subs to crosspost (find some old posts that got there a lot of upvotes in the long past and then post it in your own sub and then crosspost). Also, find bigger subs that have your larger target group and post your sub in the comments.

I don't know atm how often should I promote my offer per week. I was thinking like 2x/week but maybe that's too much?

I also intend to make a value offering post 2x week and a post that creates lots of discussion 2x week.

The SUB TOTAL number is around that as when I post here I don't have stats about today yet.

I also posted 1 post for engagement in SUB 1 and a promotional post in SUB 2.

Thinking about posting promotional post 1x week but will see how the numbers are.


I think it's really important to have posts that have a lot of engagement in your sub as then it's shown to more people on their homepage and thus more visits to sub and more times people see my stickied comment.

Slowly growing.. the second sub grows a lot faster, having difficulties growing the first one.. might have to use other subs for promotion.

Growing slowly but I am worrying if it's worth it at all or not. It's fun to see the subs grow but if it doesn't convert to money then it's pointless.

Any monetization tips?

It all depends on your niche.

Free offers can easily be advertised and converted but if your subreddit is about cats or something saturated like VPNs its going to be difficult.

I haven't really tried to promo this sub at all as it grew really slowly and then was banned from linking from a huge sub and it just doesn't grow when advertised on other subs, it doesn't have it's own unique "selling point".

This sub I have tried to actively promote, it's not going as fast as I would like to but it is what it is.

I have actually a plan to automate the promotion part but I have to be careful as it drops in the spam category. I will first try it out on another sub I made that has like 200 members in the same niche.

I would like the sub to have organically created posts every day but it usually has like 0-1 post/day and that is also on days when I promote the sub.

The second sub has earned me almost $1k during the 4 months it has been alive.. making 1 sub worth $0.16 which in of itself ain't bad but as the growth is so slow.. it doesn't bring in as much as I would like it to bring.

Well.. the first sub is basically dead.. it's an old sub, made 10 years ago that I took over.. maybe old subs aren't recommended to people compared to new subs?

I am collecting emails and then monetize via clickbank.

Its called an autoresponder like Aweber ,Getresponse,Mailchimp etc

I am paying 83€/month for it but some have free to use options up to 1k or 2k emails. I think Mailchimp offered it but they are also very quick to ban the account if you do affiliate marketing so I didn't even bother with them.

If you don't spam and hide your links in emails (redirecting through your own domain) then maybe it's ok to use.
