Pinterest is certainly being used successfully as a parasite, but any backlinks from it are nofollow (unless you get curated by an editor). So from a parasite use perspective you may be able to improve it's ranking with signals, but not your website directly.

Of course Pinterest sends traffic to your site and the traffic it sends is mostly valuable and genuine. So if you are active on Pinterest then do continue your activities.
As far as social signals are concerned, you can get it from every social platforms once you start sharing your content there. And yes, all links in social posts are no-follow by default, but that is not a matter of concern. Staying active on a social media platform of your choice is important.
