How do you deal with other blogs stealing your content?

Another website ripped off a couple of my blog posts and pages, and a whole bunch of other peoples posts and has published it on one huge static page. Everything is in the same niche.

In the posts that they stole they left the backlinks, even my internal ones so it's linking back to my blog.

My page is DA8 and theirs pretty spammy with DA1, but still ranking along some of my SERPs.

How would you deal with this? Sure, first step is to contact the site owner but honestly don't think this is a site that would care or remove it. And if they don't take it down, is it better to leave them with links pointing back to my site? Do I report to Google, etc?

They only have one page except for contact us page, with 20-30 directly copied content (blog text, individual original formatting, backlinks, images) totalling over 19000 words. It doesn't get more copy/paste than this. They sell ad space and have some affiliate links I suppose at the top. 1900 backlinks across 188 sites according to Ahrefs, all ********.

Is this just someone who's really bad at SEO? Thanks for any input if anyone has experience in this

Well, you could approach this like companies. You see, large companies like GoDaddy, Airbnb, PayPal, etc., trace such copy pastes and they would send out a copyright infringement notice to the site owner. Upon no action from the site owner for a predefined period of time, they would complain to the hosting provider, and at the end of the day, over 80% of copy-pasters will remove those articles.

This method is useful in critical scenarios, like when they outrank you, etc.,

But if that's a worthless piece of site, then there is no point in doing all this. You could just leave it be and relax.

Just file a DMCA with google and bing, at least that's what I did when somebody copied my websites a few times.
Within a day or two that page will be deindexed.

If they are not outranking you then leave them with the duplicate content.
If they are outranking you with your own content then contact them first via - their contact form or via social media (if they have any). If they do not have any of these two then you can approach their hosts and raise your complaint.

However in most cases such site with duplicate content never outrank the original source website. Internet is filled with plagiarized content but only the original and uniuque content comes at the top in most of the cases. So you should not worry.

If they rip your site using a software: add a script to your website that adds "read more on your website" everytime the "copy" function is used. Or add the above as invisible text at the end of every article.

If they rip your website by hand: blast them with DMCAs.

You mean that you reported to the Web hosting company of the website that stole your content?

You should contact their host and, more importantly, their advertisers.

It's a good idea to develop bulletproof documentation of your copyright provenance.

It's important to keep this in mind because many people find out in the worst way possible when they're making copyright claims that they don't have proper documentation or even the proper proof to prove their claims.

You have to hit these scumbags where it hurts: their host and the affiliate programs they promote.

Keep in mind that many affiliate programs are simply just looking for reasons not to pay their affiliates.

When you come up with a solid reason backed up by convincing evidence, then you can cut off their oxygen.

Most shady publishers can play whack-a-mole when it comes to hosting.

But the game gets much more expensive and difficult for them when you hit them in the pocketbook.

What is this strategy?

The strategy is to power up the home page since home page is strongest page. It's called one page website. It's a churn and burn as it's gonna go down as it's blatantly copying content.
Also google deindexes such site except the homepage. So it's a safe statergy unless someone complains to Google.

I find out where they live. I take a car or a plane to their house.

The rest is not safe for me to say...

No but people are gonna steal your content anyway. But most of them are lazy so if you interlink your articles, youll get some backlinks at least.

Also if your photos are watermarked, and they steal those too, you get another mention of your site there and potential visitors.

And i would imagine a few of those guys may even link back to your article. Like mentioning where the article was originally posted or whatever.

I guess you can make it a habit to mention your website in your content (here on Mysite.com we will teach you how to breathe oxygen on this fine day).

In the end, someone with even a little intelligence can copy your article and remove your links and mentions and edit out the watermark from your photos etc. Even a bot can probably do it, minus removing the watermark. But of course they may use another photo.

In the end, you can lose your time figuring out how to stop them, reporting them, all that. Or you can focus on your own thing and accept it as a thing that happens.

Maybe other members have better advice.
