Google Keyword Planner VS Semrush for Search Volume?

Hello,

So I searched for a word in Google Keyword Planner and the result for search volume is 10K – 100K, I searched for the same word on Semruch and the result was only 170. Both results in the USA only.

Which one should I take as more accurate?

I would trust Google to talk party tools. Possibly you could run ads to get exact search volume.

Also try to get a paid Google Ads version to see a more precise value of searches in KWP. Just invest $1 every month on ads and you will get it.

I don't know how to do a campaign on google ads, but I searched for the same word in the USA in other tools, and here are the results:

• Ubersuggest: 33100
• SpyFu: 165
• Ahrefs Free Keyword Generator: 200

I will just take Google estimated number as an answer.

Anyways, I tried to create a campaign and put that keyword, and google ads show this for that keyword:

Searches in the last 30 days
50,000

So here we go, we found the answer.

As said by above i too agree google volume is precise over tools, but you should always use these tools to understand difficulty and check manually too for difficulty

Google Keyword Planner is more exact of course, I've been using it for a long time and put these keywords in the top, it matches 100% with real traffic

In terms of accuracy, I would say Google keyword planner is better since Google is where we conduct all of our searches. They have better data, which is even updated more frequently than any other tool on the web.

For getting search volume , Keyword planner is best, provided you are running campaign for $1, so that you can get exact number or else you will get answers in a range

Search volumes from tools have always been misleading, at least for low competitive keywords that are around 20-500 searches/month. If you are really concerned about the search volume try this-

Look out for how many closely relevent secondary keywords or synonymous keywords you have for the main search string. If it's more than 10, you don't need to worry about the traffic once you manage to rank on #1-3.

I use ubersuggest to get exact search volume. I checked keywords in Keyword planner tool, took the range, checked in Ubersuggest.

Ubersuggest gave the search volume within the range given by Keyword planner. Semrush was inaccurate in terms of Search Volume.

SEMrush is doing changes to their keyword volume metrics. They have multiple tools (position tracking, keyword magic tool, organic research) and each one has different keyword volumes. I believe they are working on updating all lists to be in line with current actual values but am also unsure of when that will be done.

Google Keyword Planner, on the other hand, has very accurate search data, and that's it. It's free, which is a huge plus, while the cheapest package for SEMrush is nearly $100/month. If you're looking for a tool to find new keywords to rank for, Google should be your go-to.
