For those who bought the blue tick, after Twitter recently allowed this from earlier this month, how did the process go?

Have you noticed an increase in your daily/weekly follow growth because people are taking you more seriously?

Not sure about the new twitter blue badge, but I used to have a verification tick some times ago (don’t ask me why lol). It did not increase shit.

I don’t claim to be a twitter expert, but as far as I have seen, you need proper timing (for the audience to see it when they are free) and need to boost the likes etc right after posting. Who follows you also matters. If they retweet, it does help as far as I have seen.

The option is still there when I sign in, but didn't he pause/stop this option because people were taking the piss, pretending they were people they aren't?

Yeah, there has been a lot of controversy over this. I think the last decision was to continue with the Twitter blue verification badge and then come up with another way to verify important people. Musk somewhere said that these badge's color would be different than the blue badge. Right now, I can see that the official/brand Twitter accounts have an "Official" tick to them. The personal accounts with the legacy blue badges will go away pretty soon.

That will be interesting, as it means people will have paid the $8 for nothing. Unless Twitter refunds them all.

nono you will still have the verification badge if you keep paying... So, as far as I can see right now.. there will be 3 types of badges (or two, let me explain).

1) Official Badge (might be gray, at least it is right now).
2) Twitter blue badge - because you subbed to twitter blue.
3) Twitter VIP badge - because you are important somehow.

The 2 and 3 might end up as just 1 badge like it is right now. If so, there will be an indication as to whether the person is verified because (s)he is important, or (s)he subbed to twitter blue. Even right now it is the same (but less noticeable). To see if a person is using Twitter blue or is VIP try clicking on their badge on the profile.

Now, the confusing part is - what happens if someone has a VIP badge, but is not a Twitter blue subscriber? Legend has it that Musk is gonna "unverify" them. Welcome to the new twitter lol.

Got it.

I guess if the $8 blue tick doesn't increase engagement/followers then I might hold off - buying a blue tick might actually look a bit 'meh' if celebs / official accounts soon have a different colour.

None of this is true. Elon has already said that only "some" accounts will have a grey official under them and some will have statements under them like "chinese media account" or some b.s. like that. There will be no offical badge. Elon's own account says he's only bluecheckmarked because he paid for Twitter blue.

Everybody that wants to keep/maintain their check will have to go over to Blue or lose it - he isn't letting that go.

So it's a monthly fee to keep the blue tick, basically?

Speak about confusing lol! So you mean that’s not a badge but a “flair” like thing under the post?

I am sure I had seen a reply of him to someone and he said if they find a way to know who is important, they will bring back the verified badge for them, and it will be different than the twitter blue. Now, that bloke posts thousands of tweets per day. Really hard to go and search for the exact reply lol.

We took one for one of our project accounts on the first release. It is still active but we had no difference since.

as far as i know their privileges were under development but they didn't think some people could use it as a joke .d

A flair is being nice. I think its a scarlett letter he's using to give his politicial foes the middle finger.

That could change. You know Gogol Elon changes his mind daily like he changes sinks, ;). He initially did say he would find a way to know who is important and he did that by putting a grey checkmark in tiny letters with tiny words that say "official" on what he proclaimed "some accounts". Honestly I don't think he is going to do it, he's having too much fun trolling the opposition into selfless worth. Also, he has suspended Twitter Blue (which you couldn't even get unless you has a IOS platform to pay for it on), which left out Android and everybody on a PC or linux because he said it was "no support at this time". His original deadline in Novermber bit the dust once all the people working on it got fired or quit for that crazy 3 day deadline he did.

That's exactly what it is under the guise you're paying for more features. That's why Stephen King led the charge and threatened to quit, why Valarie Bertinelli got all those people to change their name to Elon Musk (then changed her name back before he started banning them for impersonation i.e. Kathy Griffin). Keep in mind if you can ever pay for Blue or do pay for it you can NEVER CHANGE YOUR NAME. Because of the piss off Elon impersonating him stunt he locked name changes.

It really not make difference, the blue tick is only to make you more relevant, like something that not all the people can get and just a few were able to achieve, see it like a paper crown it doesn't have any use at all, is just to make people know is a real person!! but nothing will change.

I clicked on it the other day and it says that 'coming soon' anybody who has Twitter Blue, their tweets will be higher up people's timelines.

Depending on how many followers you have, that could be a sound investment.
