Hey there,

I lost 10-15% of traffic after the Google Spam Update, and that would be okay if the site didn't keep losing it since that time. Each day I'm losing more and more rankings. If it keeps this way, it will go to 0 by the end of the year.
The site is in the entertainment niche, not shady stuff or adult.

Did anyone manage to recover?

I would read googles spam policy and understand which category your site fell under. Once you do that, fix the issues and itll be fine.

It's still all about the basics with more sophisticated approach.

Review your links and content.

For content check top competitors. Actually read what they write, how they fulfill search intent, what rich media they use.

For links you can get help from tools to identify spam but use your mind because it is a metric like any other and can be way off.

The content is okay. The same or better compared to competitors ranking higher or getting a boost during the update.

About the links - I got a lot of spam links, but every site gets them. Google states that they ignore them, and we should do too. The Disawov tool should be only used if you get a manual penalty, I guess.

Everyone thinks this.

They should be actually removed.

I will continue to spam more harder so maybe it will recover for helpful content, I mean the visitors like it and stay why google call it spam

I got hit on the 19th ish, still not sure why.

I benefited from the update, but the past 4 days have been horrible. Last week I did on page and optimizing content with POP , jumped from #30 to #5 in 2 days. And now it's dropping day by day while shitty spam sites with thin content, web 2 and pdf are taking over. Science niche blog

Same for me. I thought it's related to the spam update. Apparently it's not
