Too soon to freak out?

Relaunched a site October 1st with brand new content and enjoyed an increase since last week but today it has dipped hard already.

This last week slowly increasing to 300 pages were collecting impressions, then today its only several.

Did Google invite me to the dance or has it kicked me out of the party?

Mate.. Have your positions on the keywords changed? (Use some rank tracker for keywords). If you still are indexed its no problem, use vpn / proxy to check or just different hotspots

Have you been deindexed without you accidently put noindex in robot file, yeah sure maybe something fishy is going on but very unlikely

i took down the original site for it along with content and had it sitting as a placeholder homepage for few months with keywords on the topic, before i reinvented it with new content in October.

Indexed pages are same. Google went bananas and crawled 50-100k pages daily from the last week. but visibility has dwindled suddenly shortly after gaining traction. I hope its just for a moment and rises again as the content / site is still considered new after sitting idly for months its probably going through another sandbox.

I would bet on the dance. Changing your site completely even on established domain will trigger a drop in Google trust and a new evaluation (sandbox).

Im hoping its dance and as it ages it will grow and settle much higher, as ive spent countless hours studying competitors to get the content math google will eat up and consider a quality resource.

ive actually been trying for so long to satisfy google with the math its algorithm likes for what it considers good content by replicating high ranking competitors with the content style, length, internal linking etc.

It seems to me Google is tweaking its algorithm more in favor of the content "math" it prefers over backlinks these days.

Many sites with few links outrank big players with boatloads of RD's on many occasions, i doubt there's always a hidden PBN in the mix, it may just be the case content setup is more important now as you said.

PageRank is not needed as before to get results they want.
