Checking my backlink reports I can see a huge increase in backlinks from hacked websites like website/random-letters/clearly-hacked-html-page. I always get those but now I can see them across most of my websites and in very high numbers.

ive seen this at scale too when looking at backlinks of competitors

usually a random string subdirectory with spun article injections linking to many unrelated sited but they create a relevant spun article for each one.

I been running a honeypot for a few years and there has always been bad actors doing bad stuff on the internet. I have not seen a particular increase but then again I am only one sample point.

I got a lot of links from such sites. I wonder what's the point of it? I mean they add an article with random words and links to random pages.

I have personally emailed a lot of governmental and ngo websites about their hacks pointing toward my website because i feel bad for them losing all credibility over this

Yep, i got lots of them pointing at my website at the moment; and also many spammy websites that have like only one page with random text and external links on them.
I still think about disavoing them but not sure about the impact it might have on my domain.

I'm getting more and more of those links. The problem is that I don't understand the idea behind it... what is the point of wasting your time creating those pages?
I don't bother with those links as most of them disappear after some time but new ones appear. Many of my competitors have those links and nobody has suffered because of them. So I don't care about them.

Have you checked the sites for their backlinks? It could be that the pages that link to your website fall under bad neighborhood. <- Disavow

+ If the pages with "hacked" or "exploited" etc link to your pages then also submit disavow. You have nothing to lose.

I likewise have backlinks from websites that consist of only one page. You should also submit them directly to Google and have them removed.

I think through some of these pages someone is trying to harm you and make it look like an accidentally made public PBN network.

I also had backlinks from domains that were registered and link to my site. If you click on this link then you get to an error page. As if the web page was deleted again directly, nevertheless the links are shown in Ahrefs and GSC.

I always remove this directly and block the whole website.
