Hi guys!
I've been working with SEO for quite a while and have gotten quite good
at finding low-competition keywords.
I have now run into a problem and would like your opinion / tips.
Our company buys smaller websites, adds some content and backlinks and then start
to sell our own links on them. The process usually consists of me finding a competitor
in the same niche, and then taking some keywords from them which we can easily outrank them on.
We usually operate in large countries (US/CA) but we have now bought a site in a much smaller
country. The problem now is that I'm having a really hard time finding any competitor websites
in the same niche since the country is so small (English-speaking country).
The only competitors are government websites
which would be too risky to try and outrank them.
The problem with this is that since I can't find any competitors, I'm having a hard time finding keywords.
I've thought of two possible solutions and would like your opinion on which would be the best.
1. Write articles about broad subjects within my niche and hope that some of the articles
rank for good keywords (I.e not targeting a specific keyword).
2. Find keywords in other English-speaking countries that are easy to rank for / high volume
and try to rank for these in this smaller country.
Feel free to come up with your own suggestions/thoughts.
Thanks!
