Ranking Jumped From Page 2 To Page 5, Google Dance?

Hey, My website was ranking on page 2 and jumped to page 5

All my keywords jumped 2-3 pages

Still moving down...

It happened the same day after acquiring a backlink from a Google news site.

Please can you let me know.

Did you update your website lately? as if its old content it will drop.

Do you have the correct meta tags or H1/H2 tags?

Did you buy bad backlinks? if so Disavow them

It happened the same day after acquiring a backlink from a Google news site.

If only it was as easy as pointing a backlink to a site to tank all their rankings, all new sites would be doomed.

How old is your site and the content that dropped? If it's new (<6 months) then it's probably still adjusting, new articles can take up to 6 months to get to their final place, low competition keywords usually settle in 1-3 months.

If your content is old and has had time to settle, then it's probably bad quality content.

Yes I have the correct H1/H2 tags.

Get access to Ahrefs and it will tell you what is wrong with your site.

That is called google dance. Goolge will first check were your website fits in terms of authority and relevance before finally selling at a place

One of my site have the same issue today. Some keywords dropped from page 2 to page 8. And I still don't know the reason.

Look at the top results, they all use rich snippets. Unless you have a good backlinks, domain age and content. It will be difficult for you.
