Certainly not stupid. In fact it is one of the most overlooked way to keep your site fresh and well optimized. While building quality links is the best way, but I have also observed that updating your posts frequently helps bring good amount of traffic.

Famous Indian blogger and Marketer Harsh Agrawal also recommends this. You can also notice that tops sites like wpbeginners also keep updating their posts regularly.

since my loss of traffic to my site, which dropped 90%, the only thing that has worked is strong link from domains with a lot of traffic. Content depth no longer matters to Google.If you write weak text, and fill it with these links, it will go up. I've seen a competitor put only the title and first sentence and rank with strong links.

Forget those fiverr or pbn links with no traffic. If the content doesn't rank or show up in the serp, it's useless.

Go into GSC, look at each page and find all the long tails you are ranking outside of the 1st page for and work them into your content. Easy traffic.

I see a lot of people talking about pumping out content, be careful with this because every time you double your content you half the amount of link juice flowing to it. Only publish well targeted keyword researched articles that will bring traffic.
