Twitter might be shutting down tonight

There seems to be a lot of people who don't want Twitter to succeed because of Elon. I don't know if they hate Elon or they hate that he acquired Twitter or they hate the changes he's made and keep making.
Probably just stress venting. Like economy is worse now a lot people lose jobs, and close their business. Now there is a billionaire spend 44bill, than fire more people. Good target for flame

I agree with what he's done with the cut in staff - as in, reducing it. It reads like it needed to be done.
How he's gone about it with communication - well he doesn't exactly have a bedside manner, so no surprises there.

But he's gone about it to get it done as quickly as possible - he knows that from 7500 if he only needs 2000, he can afford to be like that in the short term. The strongest people will remain working for him and that's what he wants. Anybody whose heart isn't in it, he wants them gone.

It's not like this is the first company he's owned, is it, so who knows - maybe he knows what he's doing.

maybe he knows what he's doing.
To me, he definitely does.

Also, all this "circus", if you want to call it that, is free advertisement for Twitter. Whatever they're saying, people speaking about twitter is exposure, which he capitalizes on. He always did that. He's never shy of trolling more to get everybody to talk about him and his companies. He might be the single person on earth whose actions and words are the more reported on and commented. Maybe more than presidents or "celebrities".

He wanted to reduce costs. He's doing just that.
He wants the best to stay and all the snowflakes to go? He's doing that too. At the employees level, and even a bit at the users level.
The site itself is tech. A lot is automated. Running and maintaining it doesn't require that many people. They are more for new developments, and yes, maybe manual moderation and some other tasks.

Twitter will be just fine. Probably even far better off in the grand scheme of things.

If Elon Musk talks about free speech, then he needs to have AND tolerate free speech even within his organizations, otherwise if not, then Elon Musk makes himself nowadays appear to be a loose cannon.

He should rename his bio to “cheap twat” imho.

I realize that wasn't the best source, but right now you can check this news across hundreds of different sources.

This whole mess does feel like a gigantic marketing stunt TBH

All in all it could be an opportunity for other similar social networks like Koo.

lol at all the basement dummies judging the decisions of the richest man in the world. last time I checked you didn't create paypal and you didn't sell it for $100 million. he is obviously trying to get the employees to resign so he doesn't have to pay them severance packages.

time for other players to show up!!!

I believe as he promised real free speech, it must be taken down. Look at what happened to Andre Tate who was just a tiktoker!

You can't sing outside the flock.. If you are in media business, you MUST FOLLOW THE HERD!

Twitter is a really dangerous tool and anyone lived in Arab Spring Areas know how powerful it was. Me Too movement was another example!

Basically, no matter who you are, governemnt or powerful person or politician or country or dictatorship or employer, if you are abusing/lying to large group of peole, you can't

let them have free form of speech where they e0pshare what happened to them and expose you to other.. You must always split them apart, because if they gather, they will take you down.

Now, I am certain Elon isn't someone who would do such thing, but he is uncontrollable, and you can never predict what he will do on each situation. Twitter is really dangerous weapon tl le in the hands of such unpredictable person.

All these are just free press again and again for musk and his companies

While Elon is a twat, the puppet masters don't like that he's in charge of Twitter.
They want to control everything they can, unfortunately they meet their match in Elon.

He bought a company for $44b, he has EVERY right to run his company however he wants.

He didn't spend such amount to appeal to other people's emotions, he spend that much to make much more..

Any employee that feels they can't work under him should quit, it's that simple!

There's no need raising smoke over nothing. Other companies laid off staffs.
