Just curious about how long some of you have been doing SEO.

How long did it take you until you felt confident you knew what to do?

What would you say the milestones are for becoming an expert?

Besides the constant changes in SEO, what makes a good Specialist/Manager/Director?

Thank you for your time and I am eager to read some responses if I get any.

I've been doing SEO since 2008 ... mainly for myself but also for some clients
I'll skip the rest of your questions because I'm not interviewing for a job :)

Been outsourcing it mainly
If you are asking to determine whether you want to get into it, just try
Correct me if I'm wrong but these questions looks like you are trying to find excuses to why not to do it

I started SEO around 2008 also, but I dropped out about 5 years back. Still, not much has changed from what I read.

Hmm. I think since about 2004.

I knew what to do straight away- create content and build links. It was easy back then.

Now that I stop and think about it, nothing much has changed it’s just that those two things require a little more effort now, in order to stand out from the crowd.

Around a scale of 4+ years other than the 10+ years experience in overall. It take a timeline around 6-10 months but some cases more than a year after you come up solid rock bottom of experiences with your real profits to feel confident.

Here the intentions are constantly bring revenue no matter what scale and how much the real time you've put in yourself to the business then thinking about being a manager or as a director, once the business grows with or without things grow eventually.

I think Since 2011

Man some of you have been at it for quite some time. I'm not really digging for why or why not to do it, more so I just want to know how long it took you to feel like you could go to any business with confidence and make quality gains quickly. I've been at it for close to a year now where I am and have learned so much, but I still feel like I'm missing something.

You are not alone feeling that way. After just one year I felt overwhelmed and questioned whether I would ever become proficient. Just stick with it and it comes to you, more or less. The kicker is your websites probably bounce throughout the changes made to the Google algorithym so it is always a learning process. Good luck!

It's not how long you do it but how much success you get that will build up you confident.

I've been doing it 17 years at least and although a lot of the basics are the same, there are a shit ton of new things to factor in.

I am in SEO since 2015, new here on black hat world, looking to sell my SEO services here:))

In SEO since 2014. However, my focus was on the product I developed, the SEO happened itself after multiple mainstream articles published about me (organically).

I first encountered SEO in 2006 and in 2007 when I started my own ecommerce website, I actually started working on it for myself.

Learned plenty of things over the past 15-16 years. Today even though the basics are more or less the same, many things have changed in SEO. These days it is not like it was in 2006 or 07 when you would just stuff the keywords, submit to directories and ranks higher. Social media was not prevailing those days like it is today.

Those were Orkut days and Facebook was just getting popular :)

BTW I was always confident about my actions even during those days. My attitude is - Either I will Succeed or I will Learn. :)

I have been doing this for 5years. Its all about how you face challenges in your life. Every thing becomes perfect and easy with the passage of time.

Man you guys are pumping me up. I like the "either I will succeed or learn" outlook on it. I guess I should have more confidence in myself.
