I agree with this point, In my opinion, maybe some people misuse and cheat, but I feel it's totally wrong.

I think his issue is before it was just people could pay under the table to get verified without being deserving of it, and that instead of being a mark to show whether someone is a reliable or renowed person, it should just be a way to know if the person is a legitimate paying user.

I don't know how effective this will be or if it was a good idea even, but it has potential if done properly.
