Don't check domain availability on GoDaddy

I don't know if a similar topic has already arisen. I just wanted to write about my case.
I found a super name for a domain and the first thing I did was to check its availability on GoDaddy - that's where I bought all my domains until now.
The domain was available to buy however I accidentally refreshed the page - what was my surprise when I saw that suddenly the domain was taken.

Impossible that such a name was picked up by someone else ( a human) which clearly suggests that GoDaddy is stealing domains with good names.

It means that you would not respect your customers who have been using your services for many years.

I believe this is not just a GoDaddy Thing.

It has been my experience that some of those domain selling sites do this quite often than expected.

Nowadays, i don't check the availability of good domains unless i am ready to buy them, but your experience seems a little different, because a refresh is way too fast! than it happened with me.

Not unheard of, but… Do check the registration date of the domain. Was it registered just now? If so, you definitely got scammed. If not, it’s just a glitch, and such glitches are quite common to be honest.

The subject indeed have been discussed, more people got the same treatment from those maggots GoDaddy.

Better do whois search on small providers who don't have smart backends, usually using WHMCS.

Better not even open the GoDaddy site to do anything, there are much better options for hosting, buy domain and everything related to the subject.

There is a tool called whois from sysinternals which check the whois servers if domains are available https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/whois

Godaddy is the biggest thief of domain names they artificially jack up prices even if the domain is full of spam links

Sometimes it's just a bug that shows a taken domain as available.

You need to check whois records to see when that domain was registered.

Lots of big companies (big brands) nowadays are directly involved in unscrupulous (dishonest, unfair) practices. It is indeed sad to see this happen.

It could have been a bug when the first person reported it. This must be the 200 time I see it happens to someone. They are registering the domains themselves.

They use a bot to always outbid your bid to put you into a bidding war to jack up the price.

Never use them for anything, especially hosting let alone registration- they are attempting to monopolize the industry as well. Buying DAN and Uniregistry, etc. Namebright and Namesilo IME don't do that whois lookup tracking scam.

Anything online that is "free" really isn't- all those lookup's on all platforms do you think are not logged? It's not a charitable thing or "Free". Everything has a catch and isn't it usually free as you are the product in surveillance capitalism- the business model being followed by most- let's face it. Social Media- Free? right. There is a book called "Free" anyone interested might read it.

Not only that. It also means I would be taking advantage of a broken DNS contracting system that's clearly a monopoly.

GoDaddy is but a symptom of a greater issue.
