Keeping a tiger as a pet?

Look, I have lots of exotic pets, and even I wouldn't keep a tiger as a pet. As others have mentioned, they're huge and can get to nearly 700 pounds. If something goes wrong, it's not an animal you can easily control. If it gets out, you can't just whistle at it and say, "Hey Fido, stop mauling that kid! Silly bastard... Sorry kid, he just gets a little excited when he sees prey walking around". You can get into so much trouble for that, it's not worth it in the least bit.

If you like tigers, go to a safari park and admire them from afar.

OP says tigers are just big cats at the end of the day, so he could always scruff it if it gets too out of control

Maybe even toss a bit of canip in front of it. That'll calm it down.
