Spend some time searching for possible businesses to run online. Take one that you understand and laser focused dedicate your time there. Don't ever fall for shiny object thing because you could lose the money very fast. This forum is the best thing or the worst thing if you don't use it well. I am telling you from my own experience. If you constantly switch the focus and try different "methods" you will fail. Build a business, don't try methods.

20k? easy. First learn a profession, marketing, seo or any online business skill. Everything is free.
2. Start a business, but be the best. Hire a good designer, have a clean and good website. 3-5k$ .
3. Now you have an amazing website with a good skill.
4. HIre media buyers or sales men.
5. Make profits and enjoy. 20k is nothing nowadays you will realise later on.

You can always resell services which will involve less risks.

I have a wife and two kids and a semi-decent job in a rich country.

If someone handed me 20k now I would put it in my savings account. Awful... I know.

But let's pretend I'm a young single guy and someone handed me 20k.

I would go traveling. Probably somewhere low cost like the Philippines. I'd find a little city I like (one with culture and some nice bars and a few people I like) and get a silly job like teaching English. I'd then have a chill life for a few years drinking beer and enjoying myself.

Let's go with USD

USD (US$) 20k : Invest it is real estate (buy a property). Nowadays, one does not require much of an investment to start earning reasonably well through internet marketing. Earning through internet marketing is nowadays all about skills and the ability to effectively monetize skills.
Please do not have the "mindset" that I will invest US$x in internet marketing and make US$x (or US$xxx). Internet marketing is not about investing money (except some small amounts now and then, such as perhaps domains, hosting(s), softwares, tools, etc). Internet marketing is all about skills, upgrading skills, learning new skills and the ability to effectively monetize skills.

So, let's for the sake of the thread say I won $29,000 from the lottery, after taxes in my state that's around $20,500.

There are a lot of courses & guides to understand crypto & stock prices. I've done it a few times but didn't risk more than 2-3k.

An engineer at the company I freelance for made around 200k from Doge coin just last year.

I would put more time into studying trending coin charts & invest in some smaller coins in hopes of an uptick.

That is a pure, total 100% scammy https://www.investopedia.com/insights/what-is-a-pyramid-scheme/ investment company or platform offering absurdly high returns.
SCAM : They will collect money from gullible people and finally vanish into thin air.

If I had this amount I would find a way to multiply it. I will create a website, choose a niche, write content and make money from affiliate marketing. If I can't do everything myself, I'll hire someone to do it.

Exchange it to a foreign currency like HUF, JPY, TRY. Wait 2-3 years for markets to calm down. 20-30% profit.
