I have done quite a bit of commenting on Reddit but I usually delete my comments so I could have a clean history on my profile.

However, I am thinking of stop doing that in order to create new accs for new comments - it's quite a bit of work though, creating them, earning karma and then commenting.

Has somebody who has done quite a bit of commenting on Reddit tell me if they get a passive traffic from their comments later also or is it more of a couple of days getting direct traffic and then zero traffic later?

You can get traffic from search engine via your comments if the post ranks in Google.

if OPs' content are evergreen, then yes. otherwise even main content stops getting views in a couple of days after they are posted.

It can, but it's much more difficult than short-term traffic. I don't think it's the best strategy. I think the effort involved, you would be better off focusing on the short term. If you are going for long-term traffic, I would rather run my own blog and do posts instead of commenting.

From my own posting, over 95% of the traffic comes from the first 24hrs..

it’s difficult to get good ranking

Most of the time traffic dies after 48h to a certain post. And if traffic to post dies, so does traffic to the comment.

Depends on how you do it.

If you reply to newly made threads most of the traffic will come in the first 24 hours, then it will abruptly slow down due to the massive amount of new threads coming in.

If you're looking for long-term traffic, the following method may work:

Search for Google keywords that have "reddit" at the end, such as "best office chairs reddit", then reply to the thread and send some upvotes to your reply, to make it appear at the top.

That way your reply will be the first and anyone searching for that keyword on Google will have a chance to see it, unlike new threads which will only be under spotlight for 24 hours on average.

I don't think so.
If your post/comment gets enough upvotes - it hits the TOP of the subreddit.
Once it's done - you start getting traffic as long as your post/comment still there
Then - nothing mostly

Only if you have luck and the same post get rank on Google.

yes it can bring daily traffic, but only if you post is ranked on google

I think it depends on what you are offering or How will traffic get infos from your post

Reddit is short term with fewer post and long term with continuous posts
You have to rank your posts very well on reddit and in google
