Are one-click to root Android device apps safe?

Are these apps like iroot and kingroot safe? Some of the comments say they can steal your data. Or what's the recommended method to root?

Back in 2016 when I rooted my tablet it worked fine and never had an issue

These apps not compatible for all device , its works luck by chance, i have rooted my 3 devices and it's not easy task.

I ordered a mi phone a few years ago from a licensed dealer and they pre-installed kingroot (Gota love china). Worked fine, Always sketched me out tho. Could never fully get rid of it since every time I would reformat the phone it was in the files. Never did any harm though. Google was always throwing up warnings about how sketchy it was, which were promptly ignored

You can flash the stock firmware and you'll unroot the phone. Formatting or factory reset doesn't unroot your phone.

I always root my Android device manually (unlock bootloader, TWRP and Magisk), never used 1-click solutions.

I’ve used several sketchy looking one click apps to root androids with the exception of USA Samsung galaxies that have Knox. Knox devices are difficult and even if you can get root Knox will break everything..

If you make a backup prior to root you’ll be able to restore in the case that it doesn’t work.
