But if the receovered content is non niche relevant to your money site, what is its use then ? I prefer to create a niche relevant (for money site) and also niche relevant for expired domain, for example expired domain about cats, and your money site is about clothing. You can create an article about cat clothing with a link to your money site (PBN)

I personally recover old content to get back rankings + add new content cluster on page with relevant content for my money sites.

You can also recover the content on the old domain and use it AS a money site.

Anything that isn't niche relevant to something I'm working on is irrelevant to me.

I'm only involved in 10 or so niches but I'm constantly scraping expired domains.

I found a few good expired domains but the spam score is in the range of 40-70% for all the domains. Does spam score play any role when choosing a expired domain?

Noob question here, does an old domain from the early 2000s help SEO in anyway compared to a fresh domain? There are load of these domains which are no longer indexed, and no backlinks. Wonder if they are treated by G just like a fresh domain.

you can try. If the domain has some ranking history, that might help.
