These fucking tricksters, where do i even start.

I tried to "buy now" a domain in auction section, which was aged like 10+ years, 0 drops, good backlink profile, costing relatively low around 40$

I inserted my card info properly. I even received the OTP for payment. And then a payment error came. My payment was never made.

However these tricksters have system setup, as these guys know that these are valuable domains so first lure idiots like us at low price and then show a error or something and quote high price and we will pay coz these domains are simply gold. And when I refreshed my Godaddy dashboard to make the payment again it was simply showing as domain name already taken. Like seriously?

And that "our broker can get that domain on your behalf for NON REFUNDABLE BROKER SERVICE FEES of 65$. Plus they will take 20% commission of whatever the sale price is. Plus I would also OFCOURSE have to pay domain name charges to the seller

Are these guys fucking nuts?

Has someone faced this?

Not yet faced this, but I know they can do this.

Domain is in their inventory, broker is theirs, service is theirs, so no doubt they have all the planning to exploit the customers. Beware of such malpractices. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Man it feels bad. Like i dived deep into aged, expired domains. What is their relevance etc. For days I kept asking @Sartre @Nargil and these guys helped me out so much with their knowledge. And then at last when i found the domain these GoDaddy morons oh damn.

Yeah, I can understand your plight. But this is the real business world where such unethical tactics are prevalent. We only learn by experience. :)

There bulk domain checker is pure shit as well and doesn't work for fr and de type of domains. Plus the support is not good.

Plenty more fish in the sea mate, no worries.

GD are cunts, but they still have the largest auction domain inventory.

But it's our fault, considering that for millions of people, this is the "to go" registrar.

You can't imagine how many of my clients still willingly transfer the domains TO Godaddy, even though they have plenty of IM experience.

Multiple times I've been researching domains and made the mistake of checking their availability with Godaddy.

Days later the domain would be listed as a premium domain by Godaddy. They're snakes, always have been.

I have a thread here, in which I listed the alternatives to Godaddy as well as other hosting providers.

At least you didn't actually pay and lose your money. It looks kind of shady but it's not really a scam if you kept your money.

in godaddy everytime i buy new domain i make new account, this way only pay 90 cents
after some mounths transfer the domain to other service (now using freewebstore)

Yes, GoDaddy steals your domain if is good, magically it is registered within minutes or seconds. ;)

Stay away from any company of GoDaddy and all EIG Company (please search EIG Company list in Google)

Cheers

This is the way they conduct business. Search this forum and the general internet and read all the complaints. The volume of stories about them are endless. There are much better registrars.

This is not the first time I heard of them doing this and most likely will not be the last.

I learned my lesson about GoDaddy in 2012.

Let me tell you my story.

Once I was searching for a domain. It was a single word 5 letter, .com domain.
I first searched it on hostinger, it was available for $5 for the first year. Then I visited multiple domain registrars to check their prices too.

Then I check it on GoDaddy. Every other website just told me the prices, but GoDaddy told me the price and showed that this domain is premium because this is short, one word, easy to remember, etc, etc.

I thought let's check hosting prices too. So I spent next 15 minutes checking hosting prices. And then went back to purchase the domain from godaddy, it said the domain is already registered, however you can purchase it in $50 through a broker.

I was surprised because it was available 15 minutes ago. Then I visited hostinger again and search for the domain, and it was available there for the same $5. I registered it from hostinger.

This happened to me a few years ago when I was new to domains and websites. I didn't understand what happened. But the same thing happened to me multiple times with GoDaddy.

One time I was again searching for a domain, that was available on all the other platforms. When is searched it on GoDaddy, it said, it's already registered. And when I went back to the other platforms the domain was not available there too.
But the interesting thing is, the other platforms were not asking me to purchase the domain through a broker on the higher prices because the domain which was available a few minutes ago was registered by someone not from their platform.

A week later I searched the same domain on whois, and guess what. Yes.
Godaddy was the owner of the domain.

Their hosting is bullsh*t too.

I'm done with daddy issues.

I have always hated Godaddy.
The only reasons I have an account with them is to buy good expired domain. I move the domain away to Namecheap as soon as it's eligible to transfer away from them.

@GenesisOne well this is the reason. as it says they have probably have the largest collection of good expired domains.
