Hi all,

Hope you guys are doing well.
This thread was created to share my journey in Internet Marketing and make money online.

A little background:
  • Currently, I am an IT Engineer(as of 28th Sept 2022). Previously, I was a Junior Software Engineer(2012-2016). My job security is close to none. Ask me again in mid-2023.
  • Before this, like anyone else, I did try to establish a good online presence on various social media and also wanted to make money online but never put enough effort into it until this month, Sept 2022.
  • Like the song, Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day, I am in really big financial trouble due to a ‘spike’ in my monthly commitment and bad personal finance management.
  • I started Internet/Affiliate Marketing or making money online to fix things up. I understand that this is a hard journey and I am willing to take any risk. Hopefully, it pays.
  • I’ll update more in the future as I go - and I don’t have any idea how the future looks like, that’s why the title end with a blank space.

Update/Changelog:
  • 28th Sept 2022
    • Income report so far: $0
    • What I am thinking about - I might do some of this or maybe all:
      • becoming content creator in the Programming niche - focusing on growing a blog and a YouTube channel
      • building or having an auto-pilot blog - seems like Google doesn’t like sites like this - anyhow, it is on my watchlist
      • building multiple Instagram profiles targeting different profitable niches - then, promoting affiliate products - this might takes time - I was searching a more automated ways
      • creating Fiverr account and offering some service - still finding the service that I want to offer - it might be related to programming or other thing
  • 26th Sept 2022
    • YouTube banned my YouTube channel and account for uploading some affiliate video that I got from ClickBank - tried to appeal - failed.
      • Lesson learned: Don’t upload something that appears to be deceptive to YouTube
  • 24th Sept 2022
    • Joining the BHW forum to connect with all of you and see how others are making their way into IM
    • Started to be serious about IM and these are the things that I’ve done so far:
      • Registered in ClickBank
      • Promoting some affiliate offer in WorldProfit and ProfitAdLinks
      • Uploading some content on my YouTube and Tiktok - trying to promote the affiliate offer
      • Registered in CPAGRIP and promoting some CPA offer
      • Registered in HercuList - using the network by offering my affiliate link
      • Registered in GetResponse and creating some automated email to the CPA offer
      • Tried using http://IndexKings.com and http://PingFarm.com (I am not sure what I do, but just following some YouTube tutorial)
      • Tried running my first ever paid ads using Google Ads - no result - 0 clicks, 0 reach and 0 impression and of course 0 sales
      • Oh, one more thing, I even created JavaScript snippet to automate clicking links in ProfitAdLinks - so that I can earn free credit to use their service.

If you make a blog in programming niche and content is good, you will not have to do anything else. This itself will do all the miracles for you.

Thanks. Great insight.

I was thinking about it for the long time. Perhaps, I need to stop thinking and start taking real action.
I'll start this week and see how it goes. Will update this thread on how it goes.
 
I unable to dedicate myself to becoming content creator at this time due to multiple reasons

Finally, I am able to make my first dollar selling SSM service in my local online marketplace.

11th Oct 2022 - uploaded my listing selling SSM service
18th Oct 2022 - got my first customer

Next steps:
  • Add more listing - provide more SSM service - price it right
  • Managing my time properly - between life, full time work and IM

Lesson learned so far:
  • Just do it - you will get it
  • For any online marketplace
    • Be active - be responsive to messages and DM
    • Always online - be 24/7 - keep the site open - keep opening the app - I notice for some reason, these online marketplaces will push the listing if the seller is active on the site - try experimenting on online marketplace of your choice
    • Try to have as many listings as possible - online marketplace 'likes' seller which has lots of listings - more listing will increase your chance to make money

Total money made online as of now: RM15 or $3.18

Anyhow, there is a typo. It is SMM not SSM.
SMM panel service - try search 'SMM panel' in this blackhat forum and you will know what I am talking about.

I know this update might not relevant to this thread but I just have to share it. It helps clear my mind at least.

My bank had just called. It is regarding my car loan payment. It was delayed for 4 months now.
The reason why it has been delayed is because my commitment suddenly spike for 2 months earlier and I took a lot of loan just to keep afloat(to put enough food on the table) months-by-months and now I am still unable to pay for my car loan.

The bank only give me until this Monday(31/10/2022) to pay at least one month of loan so that my name won't be blacklisted and no legal action will be taken.
If otherwise, the legal action will take place, name will be blacklisted and I have to pay minimum 3 months of loan.

Anyhow, I need to work hard and perhaps borrowing from someone(again) to pay the minimum one month of car loan.

This is just one of the struggle that I face right now. There are many more.
In short, I am bad at managing money and no saving at all + I took a lot of loans in the past for multiple reason.

What I do know:
- Finding someone around my closed circle can help
 
Dude I am gonna give you some advice.

You are a software engineer I don't know from where so I don't know your exact situation but this is a huge advantage you can leverage to get out from your current situation. Why?

Clickbank, cpa etc all of these need serious money to start seeing some results. Plus, the profit with affiliate marketing in general is not huge unless you put serious money. Think of it as 30% profit. Plus, you need to take into account bans from big tech companies and having new accounts, vccs, always testing new offers etc.

You need quick money not a business with a lot of headaches and more money to invest, test if it is gonna work for you or not.

My advice for you is to go read about overemployment. It's a risk but there is a huge reward.

Overemployment is simply to work multiple remote jobs as a software engineer at the same time without informing your employee.

If you worked remote before as a developer you will understand what I am saying.

This way you get to have two salaries at the expanse of working more hours, late nights etc

Ofc, you could get fired but the key is to always keep posting and getting interviews.

That's the only thing I see now close to fix your situation.

I agree with this, you need a secure second job as there's not always a guarantee your own side hussle business will pay well straight away.

Try get some extra hours or even another job and look in-depth into your finances (where are you spending, what do you really need etc), and cut the spending and focus on getting yourself out of the red zone.

Thanks for the advice.

I did bring this up to my current manager which i shouldn't and it got rejected really quickly.

I'll take a look into this and this time I won't tell my current employment. FYI, I don't have any experience being a remote developer but this is the trend right now i suppose. So, I should be able adapt.

Yup, financially, lesson learned.

Second job, never thought before. But, after reading both of your guys comments, i seriously need to take a look into it.
