Hello all,
Here marks the beginning of blogging journey, I'm mainly writing this for my own accountability, but I thought it would also be a great place to hear feedback/advice from others! I have created several websites/webpages in the past for both myself and for clients at my work, but I've never tried blogging before.
My goal is to make $1500 per month from this blog within 2 years (ideally within a year or so). I would like to earn significantly more than this in the long run, but $1500 would be enough money to allow me to quit my job, which would then give me time to pursue other business models or other blogs etc.
About my blog project.
A few days ago, I bought an expired domain that I intend to use for my new blog (currently waiting for the domain to transfer into my account). I'm not an expert in expired domains, but after doing around 12 hours of research / searching, I have found and purchased the domain I would like to use. It cost me around £80 from Godaddy, it was classed as a premium domain. The domain has a DA of 16 and 1.4k Backlinks on Moz reporting, most of which are not great quality backlinks, but most don't look spammy either. I had my eye on a few domains with a higher DA on auction, however, there were always aspects that I didn't trust (i.e. dodgy links etc), so opted to not take the risk. As I din't want to wait weeks for the perfect domain to appear, I just opted to buy a cheap one, which should hopefully be better than nothing, right?
Strategy
I plan to write some of the content myself, as it's in an educational niche, however, I do also want to outsource some so that I can pump out around 7-14 blogs per week.
In terms of keywords, I plan to find obscure questions within my niche and answer then directly in around 1000 words + some longer form blogs around other low competition keywords.
This thread
In this thread, I will aim to post an update with screenshots most weeks, however, I may change this to monthly further down the line depending on how much progress is being made etc.
Thoughts
Most business I have tried in the past, I have given up before I've given them a fair shot, whether this be due to life events, or in most cases, LAZINESS! Having a 9-5 job on top of this will for sure make it a challenge, but I am motivated to work when I know I'm making progress (big or small), it's when I stop making progress that my motivation dies. I'm hoping that posting in this thread will help as I'll be able to look back on this and see my progress when I'm feeling unmotivated.
Please share any thoughts or advice you have on my new project as I would love to hear it!
Hopefully in my next post, I'll have started making my website and restoring some of the old links!
