Google Search Console Sitemap Errors

I'm using Yoast to generate sitemaps and we have about 380 sitemaps, but Google says it can't fetch most of them.


Have you ever encountered this before?

If I use the Google Live URL Test it retrieves the individual sitemaps... they're just not fetching in GSC.

I just tried it, GSC actually removes the extra / and I still get the error.

Are you speaking from experience or otherwise?

Because others have said they've waited days to weeks and didn't see a change.

Also, I tried submitting one sitemap 10 times before it said it was accepted... So it feels a bit random.

Move on from yoast TSF better option, I remember client had some issues with their sitemap but on TSF we had no such issues

Check in your browser if those sitemaps loads fine. If yes, you just need to wait. Important thing is that these are working and you pinged.
I usually get the same problem as soon as I add a sitetemap but these errors disappear with time

preferred seo plugin by many here

I just checked out, this plugin is okay for small sites but it doesn't make a sitemap index... So you're limited to one sitemap... We're too big for the typical 50,000 url limit.

It'd fine bro. When I added the sitemap of my latest site, it had 800 different sitemaps with 200 urls each and google were picking only 1 sitemap out of 800. Only a couple of weeks later, 12k pages were indexed.

@malayan - the few folks who continuously recommend TSF, are heavy hitters. These guys are well known in BHW. Have major projects and/or clients. I suggest to recheck again.

I was speaking from experience after trying the plugin, but I'll read the links.

EDIT: Again, when I used TSF it didn't make a sitemap index. We have over 530K pages so we need an index and multiple sitemaps.

UPDATE:

I've figured out how to fix the issue. The problem seems tied to the sitemap's loading speed. So, I just handcoded my own XML maps and uploaded them. Since they're not database driven they load instantly and Google's able to fetch them ASAP.

Just use Yoast to generate the lists, then make your own maps.
