First of all, as a proof of my quality/editing Ill link a previous channel that I worked on for a while. It was way oversaturated pubg mobile and I gave up, but I felt like my quality was up there with the best both in gameplay and otherwise.
Anyways, I play games and I personally watch a lot of people who play modern games, or just games that I played as a kid etc. So while I am thinking about playing games that I enjoy and love anyways, I do want to record and put something on youtube and try the youtube game again.
There are a few options Im leaning towards (I will be doing PC games) all of which are based on what I enjoy watching in other content creators.
- There is a part by part or full game play no commentary video. These usually have very little editing, but are usually the player playing the game through and just one huge slab of end to end game.
- Game movie/film. Where its still a long video or piece-wise, but the editing is stitched together to feel like a movie, and not as much player exploring doing stupid stuff.
- Playing the game with VO commentary maybe even having my face.
I have great speaking skills and Ive worked in the game industry for 5 years now, so I am knowledgeable about games and the game making process. I had another channel not relating to games, where I was able to get 500-600 organic subs and lots of engagement at the time but it did take a lot of consistent videos, I know what worked then but I am not interested in working on that niche at the moment. I did realise from that experience though that when you genuinely add value to people's lives, the result follows. That said, I wanted some thoughts.
Also, if I go the easiest of the route, where Im doing long plays without any voice over etc, or maybe do both on my channel to double dip, do you have any advice thoughts? Other threads that you can link me to that can help me get started.
I will likely be using the above channel and rebranding it.
