i know its not my thread but that is a rumor that was proven wrong.

Worst case they check sim data on the phone and if u don't use a sim card , it won't be able to fetch any data.

From what my apple dev friend saw, worst case t hey see "sim card is from usa" . Not sure about android but apple at least its safe if u take it out. Highly doubt apple would let them fetch sim data.
