From my experience, they only care about traffic, the quality of the content and how the site looks.
As they favor old domains for ranking, we can think that yes it will play a positive role.

As long as your website is generating impressions on the ad codes during the approval review, you are good. I recently got approved for a fresh domain which was register not long ago, maybe a month.

They don't care if you have a lot of traffic or your website is old.
All they care about is that you have 20+ articles, well written and that the web design looks professional.
If you do that and get rejected, try again, write 5-10 more articles, and so on and so forth.

What if said domain has been banned for adsense in the past.

I think that they don't accept a domain that was previously banned.

Haha. Maybe try with 12 articles because with only 10 articles the paginated page #2 is not there yetI sent for approval with 10 articles several times, and I was always rejected until I had 25-30.
Maybe I was unlucky
And I tried to use published date to show it's 1 post daily to recent date as well.

No matter how old your blog is. You need 10 to 15 good quality articles that are it. I got approved with a 15-day-old blog. Good luck
