Namecheap sent me this email a few days ago.
All my domains are with them. But the address I have on file is from like 8 years ago when I first registered. Many moves ago, many moons ago.
So my first name and last name are legit. My phone number is legit, I have access to it. And my email is legit, I have access to it. But my Country/City/Address is wrong.
So now I'm wondering, should I update this information? I don't really mind putting in my current address in, bcoz it's not like my websites sell anything illegal. But, in truth, it's always nice to have wrong information, so that if any shit decides to hit any fan, it doesn't land on your face. You know...
My main issue is, imagine they hit me with some verification, and I can't prove my address, and they don't let me change the address. But in all honesty, even piece of shit paypal allows you to put in a new address when you're doing a documents verification. So I don't think it's a problem. I mean, people move right? And it's like, whoops, I forgot to update my info in Namecheap when I moved to a new country 5 days ago. Sowyyy
And also to add, that old address, I could have someone go by there in 5 minutes if any letter ever needed to be received or anything like that. But I couldn't prove it's my address with a utility bill or whatever, because I don't live there. Well, unless I fake the utility bill, but that's like faking official documents and shit, and I don't like that, because now we're talking illegal...
So what do you guys think? Update address immediately, or leave it be and forget about it?
