What sort of percentage of anchor text should be your website name, exact match keyword and related keywords?

You want your anchor text variation to look/feel/seem as natural as possible.

Something like:
Main/exact keyword: 10-25%
Branded: 25-35%.
Naked/URL: 15-20%
LSI 15-20%.

Make less to branded ones. For exact keywords, you can use up to 20% and more % for related and secondary/LSI ones.

I suggest making no links with your exact anchor. Some websites of mine got penalized because I used the same anchors while building the links.
It would help if you made most of your links with brand, generic, and plane URLs as anchors.

Keep it something like this:
Brand anchors: 20%
Title anchors: 20%
Generic anchors: 20%
Plane URL: 30%
LSI anchors: 10%

if you have a brand, branded anchors can easily make up 50% of your anchors. And the other 50% split up between exact match (I'd not go for more than 5-10% exact match anchors, though), partial match, generic, LSI and URLs..

If you don't have a brand... well, just use the other anchors that I mentioned, with the bulk being split between URLs, generic and LSI

Are you sure?
How about these guides to not use exact match anchor more than 5%?
If you analyze competitors I am pretty sure you would find that exact match anchor is used 0.5-1%.

Which competitors? That 5-10% of a difference really isn’t going to matter in the larger scale. I’m not currently at home, but I could analyze mine and see what it has been on some of my long-term projects.

I am in adult niche and can see that top ranking pages has up to 1% exact match anchors.
I did big analysis of top keywords - most used anchors are domain.com and brand.
This is for homepages.

For inner pages it is another thing.
Exact match is used up to 70%.

Oh, see it may be different for the adult sector. I’ve never worked in the adult niche outside of spamming tube sites with minimal effort.

So, if anyone wants to correct my percentages for the adult niche they can as I’m unfamiliar with that territory.

Agreed the best way to nuke your site is to have to many Direct Anchor Text, Works WELL for negative SEO on your competitors.

You generally want to strive for: 30% to 40% branded anchors. 30% to 40% partial match anchors. 20% to 40% generic, related, naked, random, exact match, and other anchors.

Anchor Text Percentage:

60% to 70% of the links are brand, natural, or URL anchors.
20–30% of the links are to Key Phrases Mixed Anchor.
5–10% of the links are to exact match anchors.

This is the strategy we suggest for our clients. It may vary slightly based on the link, whether it is the home page or an inner page.

It totally depends on the topic of the particular content.

If you insert the main keyword in the irrelevant content part and make no sense, it will ruin your entire page.

So if you are aware of the content and its keyword placement, it will be better to analyze by yourself.

As you can see from other posters answers, the numbers fluctuate wildly. Look at what your competitors and other sites in the same industry are using and target similar ratios. If you see positive movement you can then start tweaking.

If i am trying to rank a page for 3 different main keywords, do you think I should I use each of them around 7% to make up to 20-25%?

This is how I run my main website, haven't had an issue yet. Main is very diverse but top are branded and naked. Inner pages are 60% exact match 30% secondary and 10% for everything else. Generic, branded and naked are useless for inner pages imo, as much as people are scared of going high on exact match, Google said they want the best anchor word to describe the page, hence exact match would be the best.

Bear in mind it relates to on-page keyword density also, so if you have higher ratio of exact match anchors you need lower on-page keyword density
