What to do with broken links (404)?

I am helping my friend find some keywords for him to write articles on. I'm using ubersuggest and I've found many broken links on his site. What should he do with these links? Leave them be or delete them completely?

This is not a permanent solution to deleting links.

Please check all sources of links and solve them individually. Create a new source that can be replaced with a broken link. After this setup just checks the ongoing way, and gradually you will see an improvement in performance.
