How strict is the monetization review?

Hello all.

Im trying to get a feel for what could pass youtube monetization reviews. Do youtube monetization reviews tend towards the stricter side or are they realy loose and monetize basicaly everything without nudity? Im thinking of making a channel with top 10 worst pictures from deviant art on any given theme (car ilustrations, animal ilustrations, etc). No commentary, just a simple top 10 list. If I reach the required subs and views for monetization, will I be able to pass youtube monetization with just this type of content? Thanks for any insights in advance.

I recently tried a similar channel, and they denied monetization stating 're-used content'. I also added commentary to my videos (real person). I think Youtube is becoming more strict with monetization approval if you're doing any type of top list or cash cow style content. However, I did end up getting approved with an appeal. So I believe they want to make sure you're a real person. All I did was film my Mac screen showing them I used final cut pro for editing my videos, and explained the type of content on my channel. Video was less than a minute. Approved within 2 days.

these days it is much more strict. you can get falsely denied even by following all the rules.

The rules are very strict. Videos must be completely original. Even if they accept, monetization may be turned off later.

Once you reach the monetization thresholds of 1k subs and 4k watch hours, your monetization should be enabled. Just make sure you do not break any of their rules or terms of service. (That includes re-uploading other peoples videos, adult and violent content, etc.)

Monetization can be stopped if you break the terms in future too, so be cautious!

You have to follow their content guidelines and they will approve you once you meet the criteria.
