Hello,

I am working on a website for the past 3 months now, few of the main keywords have almost 1.5 million traffic. I am working on web results but the images are coming on the top of Google but i am getting a very poor CTR. Is this normal 810k Impression and only 175 clicks. Is it normal or i am making a mistake.

Kindly guide me, i 'd be thankful.

Number of cliks is very less for the impression. Try changing design of the webpages.

Are you duplicating these keywords in both the content and as alt tags in images?

You need to work on the content that the page has.

Keep researching the competitor's sites and make some useful changes if needed.

The impression will count if its displayed on the page or in the little thumb collection when someone clicks on another image (you know you get the larger version in a window with normally 3-4 images below) that will count as an impression as well so unless your image is offering something different to the one listed there is no need for the user to click yours?

At least thats how I've always seen how it works.

I've found image search not to have a great click through rate, although DIY / Troubleshoot images, do well if you can offer a different angle or an actual image rather than re-hashed stock. Clothing and Ecommerce (if in stock) is displayed below it tend to have better results but are still low vs the DIY trend, at least that's been my experiance. It's very much a poor mans version of Pinterest as most who want an image of something will tend to look there (fashion, house style / trends) and so on.
