Ask me anything about Shopify

If you want the hustle of WordPress and if you know how to work on it, for starters it's ok and cheaper. But when you will start making money from the shop you will see that wordpress takes too much time and worries.
yes agree with this. I will try shopify and post query

thanks

My business partner and I just started a store with Shopify and overall I am liking the simplicity of the system.

We purchased a product from ourselves just to experience the process, shipping, communications, etc. I sourced our first order using the CJDropshipping App and the process was pretty smooth once I figured it out. That order was placed three days ago and it looks like it is still in processing with packaging and labeling happening now.

Due to the amount of time that is taking, and because I want to try a few different services to see which works the best, I am now trying AutoDS.

AutoDS though seems to leave a lot to be desired on finding the products. I search in their system and find very few results compared to somewhere like AliExpress, or even CJ Dropshipping.

We are pretty niche and have specific types of items we want to sell.

Do you have some YouTube channels, or other resources, that offer a good comparison of these types of sourcing services? I have found quite a few but it is sometimes difficult to tell if they are being sponsored or incentivized is some way as the reviews feel a little biased one way or another.

We plan to start an advertising campaign (paid and social) with a few days and want to make as few mistakes as possible. :)

Is it possible to run a profitable Shopify store with only Google Ads? Or is Google Ads too competitive to sell products at a decent profit unless your products are really unique?

at the end they are all the same untill you get private agent which will ship items in 1-2 days + around 8 day shipping time

aliexpress offers poor shipping times and even if it shows that they have warehouse in US its fake.

many people make money with that poor shipping so dont loose hope. but when you will see that you have several bestsellers you can either find private agents in china which is really easy to find or buy them in bulk on alibaba.com and use shipbob or other warehouse services in US which will ship items instantly after you will get order on your website.

1. is it possible to change/modify the checkout page?

Yes it is, All of our clients sell with Google Ads a lot, actually everyone on the market is selling with Google ads, but this is not related to Shopify(Shopify helps a bit with the process but you can sell on every platform)

1. is it possible to change/modify the checkout page?

1. Yes it it possible to modify the Checkout page but only with Shopify Plus.
Basic, Shopify and Advanced plan don't offer this option.
2. There are 2 ways you can add a free gift on top of a discount code, but we i don't recommend giving a free gift for a discount code because you have to make them add the discount code in the cart, and its better to add for the products or for the sum of the products.
Even if you can't edit the checkout on Shopify without Shopify Plus you can edit the cart and the cart can add free gifts if you set it.
a) You can code to add a free gift in the cart or the product page for different reasons, even for the discount code added in the "Cart"
b) Using one of the apps on the Shopify Apps Marketplace, that will add the free Gift easy without coding

thank you for the answers.
Let's say for example:
I want every customer who spends over US10 to have a gift for free. And I want this to happen without customer's action, meaning as soon as the the price is over 10, there's a gift in his cart.
Meanwhile, he is still able to apply discount code to that order.

What's the best approach to getting this done?
Thanks.

Leave me instructions about who do I start step by step.

There are apps for that in Shopify Marketplace, unfortunatley i cant recommend any because we cant promote anything. We usually code it.

But if you search like in the apps shopify - Gift Product you will find all the apps that do this.
Coding will be more expensive then an app for the short term.

If you are reffering instructions too create a dropshipping website here it is:

1. Create a Shopify account, you will get a free 14 day free trial,
2. Every Shopify website has a theme already installed, you just need to add products in Products and create Collections (Categories), add tags to all products named exactly like the Collection you want them to be and then, when you create the Collection, set the Condition to be as the tag you already gived to the products.
Ex: If you sell Phones, let's say you have Iphone 12, you need to add multiple product tags for multiple collections.
Add the following tags:
Phone, Iphone 12, 12 GB RAM, etc
Then when you make the collection you will set the Condition to be Iphone 12, and only Iphone 12 will be in that collection, or you can set Phone and only Phones will be in that collections.
3. Create the menu in Navigation
4. Enter Customize in theme and select the Navigation set and the product collection for the carousel, and a image for the slider, plus edit all the editable on the page.
In Customize you can Customize the Home Page, Collection Page, Product Page, Normal Page, Blog Page.
5. If you are dropshipping, search in apps Shopify: dropshipping you will find a lot of apps that do what you need and that are simple like Oberlo
6. Install the app, find the products and add them
7. Go to settings and Modify the Checkout >> Settings with your information and in Settings >> Shipping, the information for the Shipping and Settings >> Payments for the Payment Method.
8. After you select the Shopify Plan and add the main domain >>> yourwebsite.com <<< you will need to remove the Password from Online Store >> Preferences >> Remove Password
9. Then you are ready to go.

can i ask you about something in pm
Sure you can.

Hello to all, and especially thank you, @justdantz

I might need help. I run 2 Baggage/luggage drop-ship stores. One is for woman, one for men. Both also use gender related words in their URL in a foreign language (yeah, I know - oldtimes). I think about merging them to one or merging e.g., women luggage to men luggage, but I don't know which, if my SEO will lose a lot.

I also need to translate them stores to English still, but all Apps either have bad UI for manual translation. AI translated charges way too much.

Also, I struggle so much with the Shopify Apps Catalogue, as so man start free with basic features but end up charging you after a time if you want to use the “basic requirments” tool features (SEOant). Are other “Theme/ App Stores” I can browse through for Shopify?

Biggest task is to found supplier with suitable products but they should be made of sustainable materials like "Cemet bags, Ocean Plastic, Vegan Leather, Fruit Leather. AliExpress is not the best partner for this kind of things. Still many more of my competitors started launching them or building a whole new brand focussed on sustainability.

Would love some advice from you guys.

content marketing
Every platform in the world can use content marketing, this is only on your shoulders and how you build your website, but Shopify themes are a lot newer then a lot of Wordpress themes and Shopify 2.0 helped a lot with the transition for the new age Content Marketing across all website.
So Shopify can help you a lot more then other platforms and is the most easy one to use to create a Sales Funnel if the theme has one already build, the customizer from Shopify helps a lot.

Hello
1. Merging them can make you loose Seo that you did on the other website, so i dont recommend if you make profit from both of them, you can merge them only if let's say men luggage has costs more then profit, so then creating only one brand has more sense.
2. In Shopify you don't need an app to translate the website, there are themes that have built in translating engine that will let you have different languages and you will have :
Product Example:
Title English | Title Spanish
Description English | Description Spanish
______

The problem will be only for checkout and notification email because you cannot translate them without apps.
3. a)There isnt any Shopify App Marketplace other then Shopify one.
b) For themes i recommend themeforest because all the themes there have more sections then the Shopify ones, but then depends on what you are looking for, because Shopify built themes have better inner cores and are built different being more effective but have less sections and utilities like the themeforest ones.
On themeforest don't look at any themes bellow 90$, and check if they are proper optimized on mobile, the cheaper ones arent all.
4. Unfortunatley i dont have any insights about this.

How can I add a condition on specific products or discount coupons to be only ordered on Prepaid and not Cash on Delivery (Shopify India)

is it possible to transfer my shopify store from my current theme onto a new one, but without affecting the look of the store itself and its layout, so everything will look the same except the store is now on a new theme?

like is there anyway poss to transfer my shopify site without effecting the look and layout of it, onto a new shopify theme?

as i paid someone to create my store but they did it on a unofficial shopify theme and i want to be able to transfer mystore onto a new theme but a official one obviously, instead of having to start all over again with the store onto a new theme, because the theme they've used is real buggy and makes editing my site or adding new content a real issue.
