I have two separate sites.

For example-
One is under Home Improvement niche another one is under Furniture niche.

Furniture niche site has 20-30 daily traffic. Had some decent backlinks from wikipedia and Nytimes. 40 blog posts and lot's of indexed images. Few traffic is coming from image search.

On the other hand My Home Improvement site also has a Furniture category. I want to redirect my Furniture site homepage to my Home Improvement site's category page. Since Furniture site has relevant posts I want to move all of articles and redirect them to Home Improvement site.

Is it safe to move Furniture site articles to Home Improvement site and redirect them? Also, Do i have to redirect the images as well?

For the little info you have given, you should create a page on the home site for every article with links and/or traffic on the furniture site.

Then you redirect each page from the furniture site to the relevant page on the home improvement site.

The home Page to the category is fine, but I'd personally create a pillar article on there, then, otherwise you're redirecting your juice to a page with little or no content, and that's unlikely to be useful in any way, which means it may soon lose the value it got from the 301.

Can I use furniture site's content to my homesite?
Do I have to create similar blog post page for each ranked articles and wait for the indexing?

Already I have imported all the relevant posts. I kept them in the draft.

Btw, I was thinking of creating a category silo page.

If the furniture content makes sense for the user, then why shouldn't you use it on a home improvement site? :)

Just make sure to plan the 301 in a way that each page redirects to a relevant page on the home site.

Did you move the content too? Make sure home redirects to home and each content page redirects to content page. If you do it right it'll take 2 to 3 months to adapt (or less if you got higher DA).

It is good for Home improvement site because it is gaining 40 articles.

But the furniture site will be destroyed because it will get ripped of all its content. Do you plan to kill/give up this furniture site or plan to add more content in it in future?

Coming to the point, make sure you apply 301 redirect to all the furniture posts being migrated to home improvement site. As @Robzkie has said, create a pillar post for Home page of Furniture site. I liked his suggestion. It will be a safe idea.

Yes, i don''t need furniture side anymore. What to do with the images? Should i redirect them as well?

You said you have already migrated the posts and kept them in the drafts. Which plugin did you use?

Wordpress importer plugin imports all the images to the destination site by copying them to the image gallery. If you have used that then the images should already be in the gallery.

Yes I have all the images. But there are image url indexed in google and have some backlinks. What do with them? Just delete them or redirect some of those which have decent backlinks and traffic from image search?

Got your point.

You should identify them and apply a 301 redirect to them just like you did for those 40 posts. This will help pass the incoming link juice to the new destination of images.

In Wordpress every image has its own url so it makes sense to redirect that to the new destination.
