I'm yet to read this masterpiece

Encourage you to go through it. Really captivating book.

I tried to listen to the audiobook, but the narrator's pronunciation of words is pretentious as heck.

I gotta go buy some books, really miss reading a paper tangible book.

Unpopular opinion: this is a shitty book as most of those laws cannot be applied in today's society (unless you want to come off as a douche/major manipulator/dirtbag)

Everyone is of course entitled to their own opinion, but I think you're missing the point if you believe that's what this book produces in people. It's the same thing many people say about 'The Prince' by Machiavelli - that it's about how to be a manipulative sociopath who doesn't give a shit about other people - but having read it numerous times, that's such a superficial and vacuous misinterpretation of what it's really about.

Both books are more about human nature down at the cellular level and how to operate in a way that not only protects you from the pernicious behaviors of others, but also how to come out ahead yourself in most areas of life (and not necessarily by fucking everyone else over to get there). 48 Laws of Power is more meticulous and rigorous given that it's a much longer book, and since it's written in the modern era I think the laws are more easily applied to our current lives, but I also really enjoy how he uses some examples from hundreds or even thousands of years ago to show how human behavior hasn't really changed over time.

'Seduction' by the same author as the 48 Laws of Power (Robert Greene) is another great read. The lessons in there can be applied to business and social situations just as well as they can be applied to seducing a potential mate.
