Fake Users for Dating App?

I have a well built dating app on the App Store and Play Store. My issue is when most people signup, there aren't many other Users in their search area. I have only advertised in 3 cities.

This has resulted in low app retention and a drop in ranking.

Should I create fake Users that show in any location? What would you do in my situation?

Now seriously, I have been in dating for 12 years, left it 1 year ago and it was the best decision of my life.
The dating space is overcrowded, mostly by fake products, really complicated to do business for small small money

Thank you for the advice. Im in a really good niche that only has 1 direct competitor. If Im able to rank well, the installs pretty much pour in. I just have to figure out a way to retain them too

most social sites do that. fake users. fake interactions. reddit started like that. so did POF i think. ton of "smaller" dating sites ive worked with in the past were like that too. bot female users. will initiate convo with you. then the male needs to pay for subscription to open it. just to end up talking to a chat script lol. so the network gets paid but customer eventually leaves when they put 2+2 together.

Use Picoworkers and get micro task workers to signup (they can do it for both male profiles, female profiles & any other applicable gender's profiles).

Or create some kind of online interaction to it, to keep users online/coming back.

Yes, fake it. Everyone does it. If possible, generate the users. Like generic. First show real users, then fake users.

Also, don't monetize the app yet. Make it for free as long as possible, so more people will use it. You must give the people a reason to use the app. Especially girls.

you can get a programmer to figure it all out easily if you want to do the fake user route
when user signs up in zipcode 11001 for instance
have your backend show them range of 20-100 fake profiles within 50 mile range. profiles you already have bio's and picture galleries of. you can find dumps for both with some google searching. next you need to come up with a dozen or so chat scripts. if/else statements included if you want them to be "semi-smart". depending on your budget you can even hook it up to those AI chat bots with API.

you can always limit real users to XYZ city too. FB dating for instance does that, even though they are a major company. They pull your geoip and will either tell you to sign up or you get an error "we're not in your city yet". you can add a "join the waiting list with your email" field so you are at least collecting something from the website hit. or have those people redirect to a PPL/PPS dating offer.

there was some guy who scraped tinder for long time. seen him even post here and ton of other online forums. 10gb+ file of scraped tinder pictures sorted by folders

I'm on dating apps. The big ones, Tinder, Bumble, Match (Match owns many of them... basically anything with a swipe left or right is a patent they hold, IIRC). They are full of so many fake and dead profiles and scammers it's almost not worth using. I've seen profiles of people who I know personally that are 8+ years untouched. Makes them difficult to use, at best and a waste of time at worst. Please no fake profiles.
