Hello BHW,

This is the closest thread I could find to my question.

I am traveling internationally full time. Google Fi cut off my international data ~5 months into my trip. I can (and had to) buy a local sim card but it's a pain in the ass as different countries use different providers etc and the setup is not in English sometimes.

There are some options like Go-sim, Skyroam, but I was looking for a one stop shop solution that more streamlined and less expensive per GB.

  • Does anyone know if I can get just keep activating new Google Fi sim cards? It would buy me a few months at a time before they cut service.
  • Would I (could I), spoof my phones information to trick Google for a period of time (IMEI, etc...)?

Thanks

I believe you sim or mobile phone works in almost all countries as long as you have your data roaming activated.

Someone I know used to ship back his sim card to a friend in the US to sort of 'reset' the roaming period. Google fi is known to cancel your card if you spend too much time outside of the country. I'm not aware of any other method to bypass this.

It does not. I am currently using Google Fi, they cut off my data after they sent me an email stating such.

Alright, no worries. I guess I have no choice but to seek alternatives. It was nice while it lasted not having to do anything and your phone worked... haha
