First of all, greetings to all of you. Although I have been a longtime blackhatworld follower, I just created my account and I joined you blackhatworld. I hope to share with you in the white hat category by testing the information I have acquired as much as I can. I'm trying to improve my English, don't worry
Today I would like to share with you some information about WEBP that I have learned and tested.
In a sudden change of heart, WordPress has abandoned the built-in .webp feature! As for the reason...
They found that the disk size was bloated. This meant both slowness and skyrocketing hosting costs (because disk space is not cheap like bandwidth).
So the .webp feature was withdrawn from core versions. And all these chaotic developments were leaked in Search Engine Journal.
This may not be critical for many people, but!
There is a possibility that .webp is again among the problems that sneakily slow down your site.
Because in some optimizations I've done, I've seen that .webp slows down the site when there is an Apache-side incompatibility!
On the other hand, one of the most common errors I encounter is manually uploading .webp images.

In short, .webp can be the cause of slowness that you may not be aware of.
Analyze the "real" speed results of your site itself, without looking at the score indicators.
Maybe .webp is a wolf in sheep's clothing for you. Test it and see the results.
If you ask me, WEBP seems to have many years ahead of it. What are your thoughts on this extension?
