first of all have good content and links and put your target keyword in the right places title,meta description,heading,body text there is no magic bullet for ranking.

i would normally flame you but i'm in a good mood

first of all it all depends on what keyword you want to rank for
if it's a high competitive word then you won't rank number one

heres a little advice if you want users to respond to your question you have to name your thread somthing like

"Ive tried everything and i still don't rank :yell:"

that way you will get more constuctive answers and don't say NOOB in a black hat seo forum most of the time thats like showing red to a bull.. you will get steam rollered or like HugeMoney said you thread will get hijacked

Well for a noob you did the first thing right and buy a domain with your main keyword in it

Next I would outsource or write your own articles based on keywords that are closely related to your many keyword to create a keyword theme.

Start with 5-10 articles and schedule to drop those in every two days for a week or two.

New fresh content targeted towards obscure (hint hint) keyword phrases will get gobbled up and index fairly quickly.

Once you see the site index than implement rss feed submission for articles (OPC) other peoples content duplicate content is a myth.

Then continue to sprinkle in your own unique content.

After a month you should be able to add 10-20 articles per day via rss feeds and start seeing some good traffic volume.

Remember good food takes time to cook

buy a hard copy of the book mentioned in the thread.

Its is good stuff and will give you pointers on what to do and how to do it but the clincher is applying all of that with what you learn here.

Bottom line hitting lucky and getting a page to rank is not to hard depending on the techniques used and the competition around the kw(s).
What you really need to understand is why it ranked and exactly what you did to achieve that.
Only then will you be able to repeat the feat with another page & set of kw.

- Blog Commenting on do-follow blogs and sites
- Link exchange with your niche webmasters.
- Social Bookmarking

It's not a difficult process. What is the competition like for the keyword you're targeting? What's their on page SEO like? Where are their links coming from? How many do they have?

If the keyword is viable, then you need to sort out your on page SEO first. It's very basic, do a search on here and you'll find loads of info on it.

Then, you need links. Lots of them and from a variety of different sources. Here are some things you can do;

- Write articles and submit them to article directories.
- Create videos and submit them to video directories.
- Comment on blogs.
- Submit press releases to directories.
- Socially bookmark everything.
- Create web 2.0 properties and link them back to your site on sites like Blogger, Xanga, etc.
- Take the RSS feeds from all of the web 2.0 sites and article/video directories and submit them to RSS aggregators.
- Create profiles on forums and leave an anchor text link in your signature and/or bio section.
