Can I rank without having backlinks?

What is I can't build any backlinks. Can I really rank without buying backlinks. Can I just write nicely and just share the contents?

You'll get some rank but thats it.
Without the right kind of backlinks you won't rank well, that includes the right kind of content, of social footprints, if you run ads too and so on.

Its not 2015 anymore, you CAN'T rank at TOP places if you don't do all the above and more and even then you may don't rank as you "supposed" to.

@flashmoney Yes, it is possible to rank for many keywords without doing active backlink building. I have a website that I created by pulling 1000+ You Tube videos ad checked it after few months. I was surprised to see that it had started getting 150+ daily visitors organically without me doing anything for it.

Many of the keywords rank on page 2, 3 or 5, and they fetch traffic.

But if I want to bring more traffic and bring them on page 1, I must do SEO and backlink building.

If you can create awesome content, you will automatically gain natural social shares and backlinks. I have seen new domains ranking even without a single backlink on their post pages but of course, you will need some to your main domain. If you can create killer content, nobody is going to stop you from getting good backlinks naturally.

If you want to go after medium competition keywords without backlinks you need to learn about:
1. Topical authority
2. Website silo structure
3. On page Seo

You can get traffic as much as if you had backlinks if the keyword competition is zero or very low because for 0 comp backlinks aren't doing anything. You can totally rank in 1st place without them.

And even if competition comes later, by that time you've already accumulated some natural backlinks and niche authority. You need backlinks only if the competition takes a decent chunk of your traffic.
