Most of the backlinks you generated using a commenting strategy are by default no-follow.
It doesn't really add much value when it comes to your backlink network.
If anything, if you are commenting on blogs that are known to attract a lot of blog comments spam, it may blow up in your face because those sites may be deemed by Google at some future point in time as problematic sources of links.
There is a better way to get quality links using blog comments.
But unfortunately, most people would not use this method, it takes too much time and effort.
But assuming that you are commenting only in blogs that are directly related to your niche and have very solid SEO metrics, this might be well worth it.
A lot of people who are authorities in your niche need content.
As you probably already know, high quality content is very expensive or it takes too much time to produce on your own.
At the back of their minds, they're always looking for a reliable source of high quality content.
So when you come along, and you comment on what they have to say, and your stuff makes sense and adds value to the conversation, you automatically get on their radar.
Your comment isn't viewed as some sort of bullshit "me too" comment or just some insignificant piece of garbage that doesn't add any value to the conversation, instead you bring solid insights to the table.
They sit up and pay attention to you because your expertise qualifies.
Do you see where I'm coming from?
This is how you open digital doors to yourself through your blog comments.
Because you're not this random bum, posting garbage with some link to their piece of shit site.
Instead, you are actually a member of the conversation.
The blog owner if they have more than two brain cells, and their IQ is north of their shoe size, would see you for who you are: an asset to the community.
So if you keep this up, and you say that you're open to sharing more of your opinion in the form of a blog post, they might take you up on it.
Remember, people will only care about what you know, once they are sure that they know that you care.
Demonstrate your credibility, authority, and expertise first, and everything else will fall into place.
But people don't like this because this takes time.
That actually takes effort, and expertise but interestingly enough, those are exactly the same things that you need to build a successful blog.
Funny how that works.
